What we actually do

We sell and operate sunrise hot air balloon flights over the agricultural plain north of Marrakech. Three of them: a shared basket at 170 € per person, a private balloon at 500 €, and the seated Royal flight at 650 € where breakfast is served in the air. That is the whole business. We do not sell hotel bookings, car rental, city tours or airport transfers, whatever the theme of this website once suggested.

Bookings are taken directly, by WhatsApp or telephone, from an office in Gueliz. There is no marketplace between you and the crew, which is why there is no service fee added at a final checkout step and why the person who takes your booking is the person who briefs the pilot.

Where we fly, and why there

Take-off is from the plain north of Marrakech, forty to sixty minutes’ drive from the city. The reason is operational rather than scenic: a balloon has no steering, so it needs flat, open country with plenty of places to land safely. The plain is exactly that.

What you see from up there is working Moroccan countryside at first light — fields, tracks, douars waking up, animals being moved — with the Jbilet ridge on the northern horizon and the High Atlas to the south. The flight runs high first for the panorama, then low over the villages. After landing, a 4×4 collects you wherever you came down and breakfast is served under a caidal tent, prepared by the women of the douar of Oulad El Garn.

We are not an Agafay operator. Agafay is the stone desert southwest of the city and it is marketed heavily as a balloon destination; from 500 metres up it is grey and featureless. The villages and fields are the better flight, and we would rather say so than sell you the more fashionable word.

What we will tell you honestly

Three things we say to most people who contact us, none of which help us sell a more expensive flight.

• The shared flight is the right one for most people. The route, the landscape and the time in the air are identical on all three. A private balloon buys you the absence of other passengers, which matters for a proposal or a milestone and for very little else. If you are justifying the private flight on comfort or on the view, book the Classic and spend the difference elsewhere.
• Book it early in your stay. Balloons are grounded by wind and rain, the call is made at the launch site on the morning itself by the pilot, and a cancelled flight has to move to another day. If your only free morning is the day before you fly home, you have nowhere to move it to.
• Nobody flies in the afternoon. Not us, not anyone in this region. Once the plain heats up it produces thermals and gusty surface wind, and a balloon cannot dodge anything. If an operator offers you an afternoon flight, that is your signal.
